Yapı Kredi addresses and effectively combats the human rights risks related to
all kinds of modern slavery such as child labor, forced labor, and human
trafficking, in the context of its Human Rights Statement.
Yapı Kredi Human Rights Statement was prepared based on domestic legislation
and internal policies, and in addition to the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights, the International Labor Organization’s ILO Fundamental Conventions,
and the United Nation's Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
Yapı Kredi Human Rights Statement addresses gender equality, diversity,
freedom of collective bargaining, preventing forced labor and child labor,
work-life balance, personal data protection, supplier relations, human rights
awareness efforts for employees, and measures to prevent human rights
violations. Yapı Kredi Human Rights Statement is shared with all employees
through internal communication channels and can also be accessed on the
corporate website.
Yapı Kredi Human Rights Statement was translated into English and Azerbaijani
for easy access by our affiliates and is regularly reviewed and updated where
necessary.
As a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), Yapı Kredi
prepares its annual reports in compliance with the 10 principles of UNGC.
As part of its human rights efforts, the Bank participates in Global Compact
Turkey's Gender Equality Working Groups, where the work of the Turkish
Industry and Business Association (TUSIAD) in relation to gender equality and
Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are also dicussed. In order to promote
respect to human rights throughout its value chain, Yapı Kredi requires its
suppliers to conduct their operations in compliance with the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights, all agreements to which Turkey is a party, the
International Labor Organization’s Fundamental Conventions, the Law on Human
Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey, all applicable domestic and
international legislation on human rights, and Yapı Kredi Human Rights
Statement. To this end, relevant clauses have been included in contracts
signed with suppliers.
As part of Yapı Kredi Responsible Procurement Policy, the Bank also encourages
its suppliers to act responsibly on environmental and social issues, including
human rights.
Yapı Kredi ensures diversity and freedom of expression for its employees with
Yapı Kredi Human Rights Statement, which can be found on its corporate
website. In addition, all employees can anonymously report their discomfort or
complaints about relevant matters in writing or verbally to the Ethics,
Anti-Corruption, and Conflict of Interest division operating under the
Department of Compliance, Internal Control, and Risk.
All Yapı Kredi employees are expected to make judgements and behave in
compliance with the matters addressed in the Yapı Kredi Human Rights
Statement. In this context, the Bank notes that its employees are individually
responsible for reporting any violations or suspected cases concerning the
matters addressed in the statement. In the event of reporting, Yapı Kredi
Whistleblowing Policy provides detailed information on the practices and
processes involved.
Yapı Kredi provides equal opportunity in its recruitment processes and the
Bank's policies address the matters of fair labor, improvement of working
standards, female employment, and inclusion (such as no discrimination against
women, men, religious faith, language, race, ethnic origin, age, disability,
refugees, etc.).
The Sustainability Committee develops the existing monitoring processes, and
monitors and continuously develops the effectiveness of the Human Rights
Statement. The Committee also reviews the statement annually and monitors the
practices related to the statement in terms of reports received through the
reporting channels and the “Human Rights Risk Assessment” conducted at
two-year intervals by the Internal Audit Unit. The Internal Audit Unit
performs risk assessment in accordance with the “Human Rights Audit
Instructions.” Human rights issues are incorporated into the overall risk
assessment processes and risk assessment is conducted on these matters at

The key performance indicators followed in human rights matters are published
annually in the Integrated Annual Report. For the human rights indicators in
